I believe that God provides for all of our needs. I believe that he wants to bless us. I believe that he wants to give us good gifts. I believe that he satisfies the desires of our heart–if we delight in Him (Psalm 37:4) I believe that he will cloth and feed us because he said he would (Matthew 6:25-34).
But I also believe in the persecution and suffering for the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:3-11, Colossians 1:24).
Here is John Piper on the prosperity gospel. Be prepared to get your heart rearranged.
Christ was made perfect through suffering (Hebrews 2:10). Therefore, “Count it all joy, my brother, when you meet trails of various kinks, for you kn ow that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing.”–James 1:2-4.
This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ–not that life would be easy, but that he would never leave or forsake you through the sufferings of life.
